September 2019 Check Presentation

Monday, September 30, 2019

At the September 2019 District Board of Trustees meeting, Publix Super Markets Charities was honored for its generous support of Polk State Foundation and programs that benefit Polk State students.

Greta Dupuy, member of Polk State Foundation Board of Directors and Manager of Associate Services of Publix Super Markets, introduced the organization and its gift.  She realized the tremendous difference Publix Super Markets and Publix Super Markets Charitiesas well as the Jenkins and Barnett families, have made on innumerable organizations and individuals in our communities.  Since 2007 alone, Publix Super Markets Charities has given approximately $90,000 to the Polk State Foundation to help students attain their dream of a college degree.

Because September is Hunger Action Month, special recognition was given to the gifts directed by Publix Super Markets Charities specifically for Polk State’s My Brother’s Keeper Program, serving homeless students – as well as the Lakeland Campus Food Pantry.  As part of the Charities overall $5 million commitment to address hunger relief efforts in the communities it serves, Publix has donated $19,000 since 2013 to these important programs that help students focus on their studies and not the pangs of hunger.

Kelly Williams-Puccio, Executive Director of Publix Super Markets Charities, represented the organization as it was honored for these important gifts, which transform thousands of lives through the power of a higher education.
