June 2011 Check Presentation

Monday, June 27, 2011

Stability, reliability, dependability. The Boring company of Lakeland prides itself on these treasured qualities. Its company tagline gently jokes, “Wouldn’t you rather be Boring?” But when a business that embodies these rare attributes places the power of a higher education into a deserving student’s hands, the result is truly electrifying.

This profound impact that a Polk State College education makes in the lives of individuals and the transformational effect it has on the entire community is deeply understood by the people at Boring, a local business solutions company. Depended upon for 80 years to provide excellent products and services to enthusiastic customers, Boring has contributed to the growth and success of countless Central Florida businesses and individuals. And Boring’s inspiring dedication to community success is equally apparent through its steadfast devotion to philanthropic work throughout Polk County.

From its successful annual United Way campaign to its generous support of many worthy organizations such as Polk Works, Lakeland Regional Medical Center Foundation and Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine, the people at Boring have helped our community to flourish. And with its strong commitment to making a difference in the lives of others, Boring has helped many students fulfill their dreams of a college education by generously supporting the Polk State College Foundation with a recent commitment of $10,000 for scholarships.

In a check presentation ceremony on June 27, 2011 at the District Board of Trustees meeting on the Lakeland campus, the Polk State College Foundation gratefully honored the Boring company for this generous gift. On hand to accept the honor were Dean and Harriet Boring.

“Boring’s involvement in local charity is truly moving.  The company and its employees have made a positive impact on numerous lives throughout our community. Dean and Harriet, on behalf of the Foundation Board, District Board, and the students who will ultimately benefit from your generosity, please accept our tremendous gratitude for your donations to the Polk State College Foundation that make a meaningful difference in the lives of others,” said Foundation board member Jim Rhodes.
